One By One

One by One is a documented performance which took place in the city of Larisa. It is a mapping of the routes that I’ve done during my visits at the city for the project “Synergeia”. I marked with red adhesive tape the traces of my routes between the basic places that I used to visit, as quoted from the catalogue text:

“As a stranger in a city he visits for the first time, Kostas Tzimoulis played with appropriation. He traces his route in the city with a red adhesive tape, connecting the railway station, the city centre with Larissa Contemporary Art Center, namely, the specific movements he did each time. The artist “tapes” his tour and creates a web, as various urban remnants-residues stick on the tape. The aim of this intervention is to scan and to construct a network within or over a pre-existing network. With this gesture the artist deals with the web of the urban planning in a one-to-one, personal basis, challenging the viewer/passer-by to think on possibilities of (idiosyncratically) reformulating this web.”

“Synergeia” was a series of workshops, meetings and lectures. Participants were  eight artists, Mariana Kotsakou, Lena Konstantinidi, Thodoris Chryssikos, Leonidas Liambeys, Thanos Stavropoulos, Lillian Lykiardopoulou, Kostas Tzimoulis, Rania Emanouilidou,   and four curators and art historians, Elpida Karamba, Kostis Stafylakis, Christoforos Marinos, Roula Palanta took place at Larisa Contemporary Art Center from January to April 2004 and lasted with an exhibition where presented the produced projects from 24 April to 30 June 2004.

The installation for the exhibition consisted by a video screening on two-monitors, red adhesive tape and a map.
